SOLO STUDIO
Born out of pure love for Indian handcrafted textiles, SOLO is an independent brand made and based in India. Founded in 2021, after three years of experimentation and a year of learning from the master artisans, SOLO focuses on educating students and business owners the traditional dyeing techniques of India. SOLO also hopes to honour the traditional weaving, dyeing and printing crafts of India with its collections and bringing about a shift in the daily choices of the common man.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY
From the very beginning, we have been very conscious of not greenwashing our way to you. Being transparent with our practices is the best way for us to move forward and build a community with trust and honesty.
So, here is where we are at so far
We use plant-based fabrics
We only use plant-based fabrics, constantly experimenting with weaves to get the desired texture. All our pieces are dyed and printed in small batches by the hands of the artisans with natural dyes only. We wanted to eliminate the use of plastic completely from the production of our products so we use coconut or corozo nut buttons instead of plastic ones. We also only use cotton threads for stitching and embroidery.
We follow zero waste processes
We are not dictated by season or trend and focus on small batch production and are very mindful of the waste. We plan to use even the smallest piece of fabric to create fun products and eventually be zero waste. This is our way of honouring nature to the best we can.
Celebrating craftsmenship
We cut, sew and finish our pieces at our workshop in Chandigarh, India. We celebrate our workers with fair wages for their craftsmanship and by providing them with a safe and healthy environment.
Our packaging is 100% plastic free
Our packaging is 100% plastic free, minimal and recyclable, made with paper and printed with acid free dyes.
With this, we have just started and hope to do better everyday and become a guilt free brand. We hope you can feel the warmth from the hands in the textiles we’ve created for you.
